UCSFRA: Tour of Recology San Francisco

Join UCSF retirees for a behind-the-scenes tour of how Recology San Francisco manages its recycling and composting programs. 

From learning about the journey of materials after they leave the curb to exploring innovative resource recovery processes and gaining insight into the important role recycling plays in creating a more sustainable future, participants will also discover how to properly sort items using the three-bin system and how to make a difference every day by conserving natural resources, saving money, and contributing to a healthier planet. 

Approximate Schedule:
9:30-10:30 a.m.
Environmental Learning Center Classroom Presentation plus Q&A session
10:30-11:15 a.m.
Transfer Station site walkthrough
11:15 a.m.-Noon
Recycle Central at Pier 96 site walkthrough

Please note:
-In the event of rain, this tour will be canceled.
-All must wear pants and closed-toe shoes as guests without proper attire will not be allowed on the tour, which involves walking on uneven surfaces and long flights of stairs.
-Due to the location of Pier 96, taxis (plus Uber and Lyft) as well as bikes are not allowed; there is also no public transit available so please arrange for car transportation to experience the entire tour.
